Tuition & Fees
Tuition and fees are set by the Washington State Legislature and are subject to change. The Seattle Community College District reserves the right to change any of its fees or charges without notice. Rates listed here are for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Tuition and fees are due within seven business days from the date you first register for classes or by the first day of school, whichever comes first. If you register for classes on or after the first day of the quarter tuition is due at the time of registration.
Tuition Payment Options
- Payment can be made by credit card, (VISA, Mastercard or Discover) or online using Student Online Services
- Payment can be made by using the Drop Box located in the main hallway outside room 1104 (Registration).
- Fill out the payment form, including your credit card number (if paying by credit card) OR,
- Enclose your check in the payment envelope.
- Use the envelopes provided for your payment when using the Drop Box;
- By using the Drop Box and giving us your current address, we will mail you a receipt.
- Payment can be made in-person by cash, check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). Checks returned because of stop payment will be charged $30.75, and the student will be immediately withdrawn from all courses. The Cashier's Window is located in Room 1104 (Enrollment Services) and the hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
For Tuition paying purposes only 10 or more credits is considered full time. For academic, Social Security, VA, and loan guarantor purposes 12 or more credits is considered full time.*
Student Tuition Automatic Payment Plan

Seattle Central Community College is pleased to offer this payment plan from nelnet Business Solutions to provide students with a low-cost option for budgeting tuition and fees. It is not a loan program; therefore, you have no debt, there are no interest or finance charges assessed, and there is no credit check.

Payments are processed on the 5th of each month and will continue until the balance is paid in full.
You must have a minimum balance of $100 to budget through the automatic payment plan.
Cost to Participate
- $15 enrollment fee per quarter (ACH & credit card)
- $2 enrollment fee for an immediate full payment (ACH)
- $25 returned payment fee if a payment is returned

e-Cashier Availability
Availability of e-Cashier is determined by Seattle Central Community College's registration calendar. Please be aware the college may elect not to have e-Cashier available during specific times and dates during registration.
Please do not assume your balance will automatically be adjusted if financial aid is received or a class is dropped or added. You should review your agreement balance online through My nelnet Account or call the Seattle Central Community College Cashier Office at (206) 587-3882 to confirm the change.

Mandatory Fees
- Universal Technology Fee - $3.00 per credit (max $30 per quarter)
(This fee has exemptions, i.e., 1-3 credits, ABE/ESL (Below 090)/GED, Running Start, ungraded courses) - WAOL (Washington Online) Fee - $8.00 per credit
- Student Activity Fee - $20.00 per quarter
(Students enrolled in 5 or more credits of state-funded courses. Senior citizens and state employees taking classes do not qualify for Activity Center use at the student rate, and are therefore not assessed this fee.) - Transportation Management Fee - $10.00 per quarter
(Students enrolled in 10 or more credits of state-funded courses) - Student Photo ID Card - $5.00
- Online Course Fee - $8.00 per credit
- Online Technology Fee (Hybrid) - $5.00 per course
Other Charges
- Computer Lab Fee - $35.90
- Fees for self-support, telecourses, or continuing education are listed in the quarterly class schedule.
Please contact the Registration Office or Quarterly Schedule for information regarding special tuition rates for:
- Vocational students in excess of 18 credits
- Vietnam Vets, Persian Gulf Vets, and Active Duty Military
- Children and spouses of eligible veterans or national guard members that became totally disabled or determined to be a prisoner of war or missing in action or who lost their life while on active federal military or naval service.
- High School Completion, GED prep, and Adult Basic Education
- Senior Citizen and State Employee tuition wavers
- Children of disabled firefighters or policemen
