Incoming Transcript Evaluations

If you have attended other institutions that have awarded you college level credit, you need to complete an Incoming Transcript Evaluation Form to have these credits evaluated.

Your evaluation is specific to your program of study. If you are unsure of your program of study, please meet with an advisor or counselor prior to completing a request form. You will be sent a copy of your evaluation in the mail. Please allow eight weeks to process.

International Credits

Students who wish to transfer credits from colleges and universities located outside the United States will need to have their transcripts evaluated by an independent international credentials evaluation agency. We recommend you use the services of one of the following organizations. If applicable, be sure to select course-by course evaluations. Those who are here studying on an F1 Visa must contact the International Programs office for information about transfer credit evaluations.

International Credits Evaluation Procedure

  1. Submit the officially sealed agency evaluation to the Admissions office in room BE 1104, in person or by mail. Do not open officially sealed documents.
  2. Submit a copy of your international transcripts translated into English along with your official agency evaluation. We will accept photocopies of your original transcripts if they are sent from the official agency evaluation office.
  3. Complete the Application for Evaluation of Incoming Credits form and submit it to an admission front counter staff person. This form will only be accepted once both the transcript and agency evaluation have been received.
  4. SCCC’s credentials evaluators will review the official international evaluation and international transcript to identify credits which can be transferred into SCCC for a degree or certificate.
  5. An official evaluation will be mailed to you, usually within 7-9 weeks after submission of the request. However, during high volume periods official evaluations may take longer.

Please note: International credits accepted for transfer into SCCC for degrees or certificates will not necessarily be recognized at any other domestic university or college. Not all U.S. universities or colleges use international evaluation/translation agencies. It is recommended that students contact the universities and colleges they plan to attend to see what procedures should be followed when transferring international credits.

What is the Difference Between an Official and an Unofficial Transcript?

Both the official and the unofficial transcript contain the same information about a student’s academic record at SCCC: a chronological list of classes, grades, and credits.

Only an official transcript includes the Registrar’s signature, the SCCC seal, and the date it was issued. An official transcript is delivered in a sealed envelope which should not be opened by anyone except the addressee. It is a legal document. There is a $4.20 fee for each official transcript ordered.

An unofficial transcript is the student’s academic record without signature, seal, date, or sealed envelope. There is no fee. A student may obtain an unofficial transcript by following the same procedure as for requesting an official transcript, set forth below. The student can also obtain the unofficial transcript through Student Online Services.

How Do I Know Which Type of Transcript to Request?

Request an official transcript when you send it to another academic institution; a government agency; a bank; an employer; or you need legal proof of your academic record. Request an unofficial transcript when a legal document is not necessary, such as for your personal files.

To Request an Official Transcript:

  1. IN PERSON. Complete a transcript request form in the Registrar's Office (BE1104) or download the request form found at: http://seattlecentral.edu/forms/Transcript_Request_Form_B-102.pdf and pay the required fee to the Cashier located in BE1104, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Tuesday 8:00 AM to 6:00PM.
