Information Technology (IT ) is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.
Seattle Central Community College has five distinct programs of study for those interested in working in the information technology field.
Database Administration & Development Create, install, and manage databases that organize data.
Network Design & Administration Learn how to install, maintain, repair and ensure the security of local and wide area networks.
Programming Gain expertise in current programming languages, program design and systems analysis.
Web Design Become skilled in creating the "look and feel&qtuo; of web sites by learning design, typography, and user experience.
Web Development Build web sites and run them by writing applications and interfacing with databases.
Real-world training
Instructors are industry professionals who provide real-world training in a hands-on, interactive classroom environment. A Technical Advisory Committee of industry professionals guides each program to ensure they are up-to-date on industry trends and issues.
High-tech facilities
IT classrooms, labs, and offices have recently been remodeled and outfitted with new equipment. Students have access to both PC and Macintosh operating systems in our student computer labs.
