Seattle Central offers degrees, certificates, and continuing training for professionals and introductory classes.

Introductory Computer Classes

Business Computing Classes (word processing, spreadsheets, internet)

One credit short courses and four and five credit quarter-long courses are offered in a variety of software applications. Students in any course of study are encouraged to enroll.

MIC 122, MIC 120 and MIC 150 courses provide in depth coverage of spreadsheets, databases and the Internet. Contact: the Business, Information Technology and Creative Arts Division (206) 934-3830 for information on these MIC courses and for short courses on other applications.

Certificates & Degrees

• Applications Support Program
  Graduates of this program provide software technical support for internal or external customers. Students obtain skills in technology, customer relations and problem solving. Work experience on or off-campus is an integral part of the Applications Support program.
• Business Information Technology
  Students in the BIT certificate program develop computer proficiency and a wide range of business support skills. A six-quarter A.A.S. degree is also offered.
• Database Administration & Development
  Database Administration & Development students will be provided with a basic understanding of relational database design principles, installation and maintenance of database management systems, security practices, and user interface design and implementation.
• Network Design & Administration
  Students in the Networking program will be provided with basic network skills while learning Microsoft Windows NT/2000, UNIX, and Linux. Students will use one of our dedicated labs to gain hands-on experience with network configuration and troubleshooting. A three-quarter "Cisco alternative" is also available.
• Programming
  The programming curriculum educates students to be entry-level programmer/analysts. In addition to technical skills the certificate program emphasizes communication and problem solving skills.
• Web Design
  Web Design students will benefit from the wide range of experience brought by industry representatives devoted to teaching. Program curriculum will include typography, writing for the web, and the theory of web design. Students will learn to work with Photoshop, web animation using Flash, and design with Dreamweaver. Combining design classes with core IT classes will prepare our graduates for careers such as User Interface Designer, Web Designer and Web Producer.
• Web Development
  Web Development students share many core classes with students in the programming option. These courses were designed to provide skills in currently in use by industry. Web development specialty courses are shared with web design students. Many programming students will wish to add web specialty courses to their schedule.
