FAST TRACK:
High School Completion

What is FAST TRACK?

Seattle Central Community College is a higher education institution, not a high school. However, we have some outstanding opportunities for young people to earn college/university credit and degrees while completing requirements for a Washington State high school diploma at the same time.

Seattle Central Community College offers FAST TRACK, which satisfies requirements for both a college/university degree AND a high school diploma. Thousands of American and international high school students have participated in these programs over the years.

How Does It Work?
Associate of Arts (A.A.) "Transfer" degree including High School Diploma

Earn two types of credit at the same time (college/university and high school) and save TIME and MONEY.

Graduate in just 2 years* with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree and a high school diploma.

Use your A.A. degree to transfer with 3rd year (Junior) status to one of thousands of American 4-year colleges and universities.

Please note:

* Depending on assessment and placement, students may need to take non-transferable, developmental classes in English as a Second Language or math.

* Students who want to earn only the high school diploma (not the associate degree) may contact the IEP office for more details.

Enrollment in FAST TRACK also includes:

Special services such as personal counseling, academic and career planning, social activities, leadership training, student clubs, outstanding athletic facilities, college library, computer and science laboratories, and much more!

Special Requirements

The State of Washington has recently added additional requirements that students must meet before earning a High School Diploma.   It is not necessary for students to take any additional classes to meet these requirements, and they will be able to get assistance from international student advisors, and Seattle Central's career Advising Center.    Fast Track students should complete all requirements before by their final quarter in order to receive the High School Diploma.

  • Take one of the following tests: SAT, ACT or College Board AP Subject Tests
  • Complete a culminating research project in a college class
  • Complete a High School and Beyond Plan (long-range career plan) with Seattle Central’s Career Advising Center

Score requirements for standardized test:

  • SAT: Reading - 350, or Writing – 380
  • ACT: Reading – 13, Writing – to be announced by State of Washington soon
  • College Board AP Subject tests: score of 3 out of 5 in one of the following -- Writing – English Languange and Composition OR
Reading – Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Psychology, United States History, World History, United States Government and Politics, or Comparative Government and Politics

More information on the culminating project will be available when students arrive at Seattle Central and meet with an academic advisor.

Who Can Enroll in FAST TRACK?

Students who haven't completed high school can begin FAST TRACK. While most full time Seattle Central Community College students are between 18 - 26 years old, we welcome younger students (17 years of age) who are mature, academically motivated and prepared for a challenging higher education environment.

Why choose FAST TRACK?

FAST TRACK is for high school students who are....

  • mature, motivated, and high achieving and want to be in a challenging environment with other high school and college students.
  • older students who did not complete a high school diploma, but would like to return to school to continue their education
  • completing a year of high school in the U.S with an F-1 or J-1 visa, but won't earn a high school diploma. We have experience helping J-1 high school exchange students enter our College and obtain F-1 status without returning home. Enroll in FAST TRACK beginning this summer quarter!
  • not interested in spending their final high school year(s) in their home country, but would prefer to study in the U.S.
  • interested in saving one or two years of precious time (and tuition dollars!) by leaving high school early and beginning college/university studies. You will still earn a high school diploma and up to two years of college/university credit!

Yasin Cakmak

Yasin Cakmak from Turkey is a FAST TRACK graduate. Yasin entered the program at the beginning of his senior year in high school. Two years later, he transferred to Washington State University as a junior (3rd year) with a large scholarship.

  Jung-Yun Anh

Jung-Yun Anh (Korea) is currently completing FAST TRACK. "I was planning to do a community college Associate's Degree and then transfer to a 4-year university anyway. I thought it was a good idea to get my high school diploma and my Associate's degree simultaneously because it saves time, money and effort. I want to study for my future major as soon as possible."
