Sponsorship Process

Would you like to bring a speaker to your class, but need assistance with room arrangements and funding?

The Global Education Design Team sponsors forums, presentations, and symposia on topics of current international interest and importance. If the event involves more than 2 speakers and lasts more than 2 hours, it will be considered a symposium.

We can provide an honorarium and take care of room arrangements, AV equipment, publicity, and so on. There are only a few policies you must follow:

  1. The event must be open to the campus community, which usually means that it needs to be in a larger room than your classroom.
  2. You must attend a GEDT meeting with a completed copy of the GEDT speaker form (these are required prior to approval of your event). At the meeting, you will describe how your event meets GEDT goals and provide iinformation about the speaker.
  3. We need at least two weeks advanced notice to approve, organize, and publicize the event.

In–district speakers will have the option to choose either a GEDT standard honorarium once a year, or to take professional development credit for their presentation (one full credit per presentation).

Information about honoraria for speaker events and symposia can be found in the GEDT Public Folder in Outlook.

Take advantage of this resource that the Division of Instruction makes available to the campus community. Call or e–mail us with your questions, suggestions, and feedback.
