Application Process

2007-2008 Financial Aid Application Process

For Fall 2007 through Summer 2008

Please review the information below. You should also download the 2007-2008 Financial Aid Application Guide. To apply for all available federal, state, and institutional financial assistance, you must complete tasks 1-5 of Seattle Central's application process, and task 6 if applicable, by the deadline date. Read the instructions carefully. You are responsible for any problems resulting from failure to follow application directions or any problems resulting from failure to meet an application deadline.

Step 1: New students must apply for admissions.

Step 2: Complete one of the following:

1. 2007-2008 FAFSA on the Web
2. 2007-2008 Renewal FAFSA on the Web

Step 3: Submit your 2007-2008 FAFSA to the Federal Processor

• After submitting your online FAFSA, you will receive an email with a link to your SAR on the Web in approximately 5 days.

Step 4: After you receive your Student Aid Report SAR:

• Respond to the "2007-2008 Required Actions Letter" sent from the Financial Aid Office. Read it thoroughly and carefully. The letter will be sent beginning in Spring 2008, within one week of receiving your SAR. The letter states what additional documents are required to complete your file; OR .
• Contact us in person, by phone or email so we can review your information and tell you what additional documents are required to complete your file. Beginning in Spring 2008 you may view your 2008- 2009 file status online at Student Online Services.

Examples of additional actions or documents that may be needed to complete your file include, but are not limited to, the following: a copy of your 2006 Federal Income Tax Return, a copy of your Social Security card, proof of citizenship status, proof of Selective Service registration, Federal verification worksheet, a copy of your birth certificate or US passport.

If you plan to attend Summer Quarter 2008 and would like to be considered for financial aid, you must complete and submit a Summer Quarter Supplemental Financial Aid Application to the Financial Aid Office. These applications will be available beginning April 10, 2008.

2008-2009 Financial Aid Application Process

For Fall 2008 through Summer 2009

FAFSA Filing Options

1. FAFSA on the Web
   Students can file their FAFSA over the internet at: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov rather than use a paper FAFSA. Follow the instructions carefully. Students and parents with Dept. of Education PIN numbers can sign the application electronically. Students and parents without PIN numbers must print and sign the Certification Page and mail it to the Federal Processor.
2. Renewal FAFSA on the Web
   This option is only available to students who applied for aid in the previous academic year and have a Department of Education PIN number. If you do not already have a Department of Education PIN number, we recommend you file your FAFSA using option #1 or #3.
3. Paper FAFSA
   If you would like to fill out a paper FAFSA, you will need to call the Federal Processor at 1-800-433-3243 to request one. A paper FAFSA takes between 4 [150](–) 6 weeks to process.
