Browsing the SCCC
Library
1.
Begin by reading chapters one and two of the textbook (see the link on
the course web page). Your assignment is to get curious. Spend time discovering
the library without the assistance of a librarian. Using
the SCCC Library Map and the "Welcome to the Library" handout from class,
- Identify the
numbered locations on the map.
- In a list
format, describe each location, noting observations and questions you
have about it.
- Write one
to two paragraphs describing your experience exploring the library and
any questions you might have after you explore the different sections
of the library using the map and the "Library - Welcome" handout.
- You may write
this up in a printed document, or send it to me as an email message.
TIP: As
you are exploring, try to be aware of the systems of organization that are
being used in the Seattle Central Library. Consider what we have done to
make information more accessible for library users? Notice what activities
are taking place in each of the service areas. Ask yourself what seems to
be the purpose of each location.
