Survey of American
business: Business and economic terminology, forms of business
ownership, management concepts, marketing, financing. Also covers
small businesses, franchising, international business.

272 (5 credits) Integrating ESL in the Mainstream
Classroom
Specifically designed for the teacher who has
bilingual and monolingual students in the same class. An overview of
current theories of language acquisition, with focus on practical
instructional strategies; issues related to placement, testing,
mainstreaming, and effective needs of students.

credits) Composition
Intro to the writing process.
Writing assignments with focus on major strategies of non-fiction
prose, with subject matter drawn from firsthand experience and
observation. Prereq: Satisfactory performance on English placement
test.

Continuation of the composition
sequence with further instruction and practice in writing, and with
concentration on the critical reading and writing techniques needs
for the preparation and completion documented essays. Prereq: ENG

fundamentals of grammar and syntax, oral and written exercises,
reading and conversations and cultural aspects of the countries in
which French is spoken. Oral practice with tapes required outside of

This course looks at
language as fundamental to human beings and human culture. It
examines the complexity of language through phonological,
grammatical and discourse , and explores the diversity of language
use through its socio/psychological dimensions.

accessing tools such as Mosiac, Gopher, FTP, Telnet, Veronica,

valuable and useful information amid the variety of data available.
