Service-Learning Program
Service-Learning Program
Service-Learning is an educational approach in which the learner is directly in touch with the realities being studied, rather than simply reading about, hearing about or talking about these realities. It combines community involvement with academic instruction and is linked to specific classes as either a requirement or an option. Advantages of service-learning include the opportunity to enhance understanding of course content, build experience for a resume, explore career options, broaden one's knowledge of the community, earn an additional 2 credits-and do something for others.
Registration is by permission of the Service-Learning Coordinator only and occurs during the first few weeks of the quarter. For additional information, contact the Service-Learning Program, BE 1103, (206) 587-6997 or go to www.seattlecentral.edu/service-learning.
