High School Completion

To make your transition into the college system smoother, we recommend that you follow the steps listed below:

  1. Complete an application form. You can apply directly online by going to our Online Applicaton web site. Make sure you indicate "high school completion" in the space where we ask for your intended major area of study.
  2. Go to the Testing Office, Room 1106, and take the COMPASS placement test. Effective May 22, 2006, the fee will increase to $15.00.  Call the Testing Office at (206) 587-6344 if you have questions.
  3. Have your high school transcript (s) evaluated. Send us official transcripts from your last high school(s) and from all colleges attended. High school transcripts are automatically forwarded from Admissions to be evaluated by the Evaluator. If you have transcripts from colleges you have attended, submit a request to have those transcripts evaluated by downloading a form at http://seattlecentral.edu/forms/
  4. After the above procedures have been completed at least two weeks before the quarter starts, you will receive a S.T.A.R. (Student Success Advising Registration) appointment to register for classes.
  5. If you have further questions, contact Fran Kato, counselor for high school completion, at (206) 587-5408.
  6. Additional Steps for Underage Students: If you are 16 or 17 years old and have not yet graduated or obtained a G.E.D., you must complete the "Underage Petition" and "Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment" forms. These are available in the Admissions Office on online, click Here. Submit the "Underage Petition" form to your High School Counselor and "Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment" form to your parent or guardian, for approval and signatures. The completed forms must be returned to the Admissions Office, room 1104B.
  7. Admissions to Seattle Central Community College must be approved by the Director of Admissions or Admissions staff. Students may be required to have an entry interview.
Note: Contact Basic Studies at (206) 587-4180 if you are interested in taking G.E.D. preparation classes.
